Gender equality

The Equality Committee works with analyses and development of action plans with regard to both students and employees.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy has an unequal gender balance. In the Gender Equality Committee, we pay particular attention to the fact that there is formal and real equality at the Department, and that offers and opportunities for students and employees do not favor a particular male culture.

Aarhus University has an official policy and initiative: See also Gender Balance in Research. At a national level, Women in Physics arrange annual meetings and publish material (on gender equality). Further inspiration and facts about gender equality can be found on the Internet.

Discrimination and sexual harassment have been major subjects in the international and national debate and are, of course, unacceptable at the Department of Physics and Astronomy. For employees these issues are managed by the HR Department where advice also can be provided. Students can get help can get help from specially trained student counsellors at the Studies Administration.
