Postdoc position in theoretical quantum many-body physics 900778
The Department of Physics and Astronomy, Aarhus University, invites applications for a postdoc position in theoretical strongly-correlated quantum manybody physics. The starting date is in July 2017, and the duration of the employment is until December 31, 2018.
We are looking for a motivated candidate interested in doing research within the topics: quantum many-body physics, spin models, ultracold atoms in optical lattices, topological quantum systems, few-body systems, tensor networks, exact diagonalization, quantum dynamics, and quantum measurements.
The successful applicant will be part of a collaboration between the groups of Anne E. B. Nielsen at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems and Nikolaj T. Zinner and Jacob F. Sherson at Aarhus University and will interact with both theorists and experimentalists. Funding for conference participation and research visits is included.
For more information on the research environment see:
Applications should contain a statement of research interests (including a summary of previous research achievements), CV, diploma, list of publications, and contact information of two referees who can provide letters of recommendation. A teaching portfolio is not needed.
Applicants should have an excellent track record (relative to their current career stage) and a solid knowledge within quantum physics. Experience within the above mentioned research areas is an advantage. A PhD degree or equivalent in physics or a closely related field is required. Applicants, who do not currently hold such a degree, can apply if they expect to obtain the degree before the starting date of the position.
The place of work is Ny Munkegade 120, DK-8000 Aarhus C, and the area of employment is Aarhus University with related departments.
The position is funded by the Villum Foundation. Questions can be addressed to Anne E. B. Nielsen (email: email@example.com
Short-listing is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.
